Plan Selection Worksheet: Do You Need More Than One Login?
A plan selection worksheet for dealers deciding whether one login is enough, or whether the floor already needs separate accounts, queues, and a manager seat.
The owner of a twelve-unit independent lot shares one email login with his son. They take turns posting. On paper that looks efficient. On the floor it looks like this: the son posts three cars from the shared session, the owner comes back from lunch and posts two of the same VINs because the queue is not his, and neither of them can tell the used-car manager — who does not have a login at all — who advertised what. The question is not "which plan is cheaper this month." It is whether you need more than one login.
PostToMarket has two plans. Starter is $59 per month with 1 login. Dealership is $299 per month with up to 13 team logins and 2 managers. This worksheet walks a GM or dealer principal through the decision without a sales script. If you already know you have a floor team, skip to the Dealership column. If you are a solo operator, stay honest about whether "solo" is still true.
A side-by-side feature comparison lives in PostToMarket Starter vs Dealership. This article is the decision worksheet: people, queues, and the moment a shared login becomes the bottleneck.
Start With People, Not With Inventory Count
Unlimited vehicles in inventory are on every plan. Lot size does not pick the plan. Headcount and workflow do.
Count actual posters, not job titles
Write down every person who will post, assign, or review Marketplace work in a normal week:
| Person | What they actually do | Needs their own login? |
|---|---|---|
| You (owner / GM) | Billing, settings, occasional posts | Yes — this is the admin |
| Used-car manager | Assigns work, reviews claims | Yes, if they assign or coach |
| Floor salesperson | Self-queues and posts | Yes |
| Junior / BDC / porter who posts | Works a list they are given | Yes |
| Bookkeeper who never posts | Nothing in the product | No |
If the "yes" column has one name, Starter fits. If it has two or more, you need more than one login. Sharing the admin email is not a third option. It is how you lose ownership of every listing.
Roles only work when each person has a seat
The four roles are admin, manager, sales rep, and sales associate. Admin is the account. Managers assign to associate queues and see the team. Sales reps self-queue. Associates work assigned queues. None of that mapping survives a single shared session. The role article is admin, manager, sales rep and associate roles explained; the worksheet question is simpler: can two people be in the product at the same time without stealing each other's session?
If the answer is no, you need more than one login.
Plan Selection Worksheet: Eight Questions About More Than One Login
Answer yes or no. Do not score "sometimes" as no. If it happened last month, it counts.
Volume and coverage
- Does more than one person post in a typical week? Yes means Starter's single login will be a shared password within a month.
- Do you need posting to continue when the owner is at auction, on vacation, or on a desk deal? Yes means a second person must be able to sign in as themselves.
- Do junior people post units they did not choose? Yes means you need associate queues and a manager who can assign — Dealership territory.
Control and hygiene
- Have two people ever posted the same VIN because they did not know who claimed it? That is a queue-and-login problem, not a training slogan.
- Do you want posting analytics by rep, not one blended number? Analytics by rep only mean something if each rep has a login.
- Does anyone other than the owner need to see a leads inbox or team queue view? Those are manager jobs. Managers need seats.
Honesty checks
- Are you planning to "just share Starter until we see if it works"? Trials exist for evaluation. Sharing a login during a trial teaches the floor the wrong habit.
- Would you give that shared password to a new hire on day one? If you hesitate, you already know you need more than one login.
Tally: zero or one "yes" and you are a true solo operator. Two or more "yes" answers and Dealership is the plan that matches the work you already do.
What One Login Can Honestly Support
Starter is not a lesser posting engine. It is a one-person operation. The Chrome extension, AI titles and descriptions, bulk CSV and Excel import, capture from auction and wholesale sites, photo picker, inventory statuses, mark as sold, and mobile dashboard are all there. Unlimited vehicles are there.
Starter is the right answer when
- You are a solo seller or a one-person independent lot.
- You import, queue, post, and mark sold yourself.
- There is no junior to assign work to, and no second manager to coach.
- You would rather keep billing and posting in one pair of hands.
Starter becomes a tax when
- The second person waits for the first person to sign out of the extension.
- You cannot tell who posted the listing that used the wrong price.
- Offboarding a helper means changing the only password, which also kicks you out of billing.
- You want a manager to assign associates without handing them the admin login.
Those are not hypotheticals. They are the usual path from "we'll share it" to "we need Dealership yesterday."
What More Than One Login Unlocks on Dealership
Dealership is $299 per month, up to 13 team logins, 2 managers. You are paying for seats and team workflow, not for a different way to submit a listing.
Team workflow that requires separate logins
- Per-rep posting queues and sales reps self-queuing from shared inventory.
- Managers assigning vehicles to associate queues.
- Team queue view to see and release any claim.
- Team analytics by rep and source.
- Leads inbox for managers.
- Roles that match the floor: admin, manager, sales rep, associate.
If you do not need those, do not buy them. If you are already doing those jobs in a group text and a spreadsheet, you need more than one login whether you like the price or not.
A note on Facebook behavior
Separate logins inside PostToMarket are not a promise about Facebook accounts. Each person still signs in to the extension with email. Shared Facebook profiles and shared devices are a different risk, covered in setup and sign-in guidance. PostToMarket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta, and no plan guarantees distribution.

How PostToMarket Automates This
The plan question is usually postponed until two people are already fighting over one session. The product cannot pick the plan for you, but it makes the cost of the wrong plan obvious: queues, roles, and analytics only work when each poster has a login.
- Starter, 1 login, for the operator who is also the poster.
- Dealership, up to 13 logins, 2 managers, for a floor that assigns, self-queues, and reviews as a team.
- Unlimited vehicles in inventory on both, so you are not buying capacity in units.
- Email sign-in to the extension, no API keys, so offboarding is a user problem rather than a shared-secret problem.
- Personal queues, manager assignment, team queue view, analytics, and leads inbox on the team side of the product — all of which assume distinct people.
- 10-day free trial with secure Stripe checkout, cancel anytime, so you can run this worksheet against real work instead of a demo.
If you are still unsure, run Starter only if the worksheet said you are truly one person. Do not use the trial as cover for a shared password.
Choose Seats Before the Floor Invents a Shared Password
If two people need to post this week, you already need more than one login. Waiting until the shared session causes a duplicate VIN is more expensive than the plan difference.
PostToMarket keeps the posting engine the same and splits the product on seats. Starter is $59 per month for a solo seller or independent lot with one login. Dealership is $299 per month for up to 13 team logins. Both include unlimited vehicles.
